Buttock augmentation surgery is right for someone who does not like the shape of their buttock or is looking to balance their body. It is commonly performed in one of two ways, with implants or fat transfer. The fat transfer procedure is commonly known as a "Brazilian butt lift."
Preparation before surgery: To meet the functional requirements and the aesthetic expectations (body image) of the patient, the plastic surgeon establishes a realistic and feasible surgery plan by which to correct the anatomic contour deficiencies of the gluteal region. The surgeon and the patient determine the location of the surgical-wound scars, and determine the best operative position, to allow the proper exposure of the pertinent anatomy to be corrected. Because the surgical procedure requires the tumescence and anaesthesia of the gluteal-region area to be corrected, the physician and the anaesthesiologist determine the volumes of the anaesthetic and tumescent fluids to be administered to the patient during the procedure, and so avoid the risks of drugs overdose and toxicity.
Estimated Recovery Time: 3 weeks
Estimated Hospital Stay: 2 days
What to do after surgery: Patients stay off of their new butts for approximately 2 weeks to allow for healing to take place. Special dressings will be applied to the area post-operatively that will be removed on your first post-operative visit several days after surgery. After approximately one month, patients can slowly resume exercise at a less intense pace and are back to normal activity by 6 weeks after surgery.
